A Complete Guide to Shade Matching in Dyeing
1. Preparation before shade matching:
1.1 Physical preparation: a well-rested and energetic person matches shades much more accurately than a tired one; the first glance at a color is more accurate than repeated long observation. Concentrating on short visual matching in good condition is the physical premise of efficient shade matching.
1.2 Selection of dyes: understand the customer's shade requirements first. If the customer requires matching under multiple light sources, computer color measurement should be used to select dyes, so as to avoid or reduce metamerism between the small sample and the customer's sample. Know the fastness properties of the selected dyes and the customer's fastness requirements; know the ease of use, stability and safety of the dyes. Finally, consider reducing cost and pollution.
2. Matching with the three primary colors: this is the most common method, and most customer samples can be dyed with the three primary colors. If the properties of the three-primary-color dyes used by the customer are similar to or the same as the dyes used for the sample, the small sample can usually be matched smoothly.
3. Key points in the matching process: control the dyeing temperature and time strictly; keep the liquor ratio consistent; note the different dye uptake rates of different dyes; correct the prescription step by step according to the difference between the sample and the target; record every prescription for later reference. When the sample is finally confirmed, keep the production batch consistent with the sample conditions to ensure the same result on the machine.
